A new international recognition for our most famous tourist attraction, located in Cusco, Peru, and one of the most visited places in the world.
The basis that took The Huffington Post as a reference to promote this election at the global level, was the famous book by the American travel writer, Patricia Schultz, entitled: "1000 places that you must see before you die", a publication that presents this amount of opportunities for trips and know dream places in the world.
The vast list of these thousand places welcomes opportunities to learn, such as Crete, Mykonos, Delphi, the Palace of the lost city, Ephesus, Saba, Bagan in Myanmar, the three gorges in China, Lassa, Gstaad, the commercial district of Hong Kong, famous archaeological ruins, cities, villages, fields, parks, museums, castles, islands of paradise, among many other wonders of the world.
In the first stage of the competition, The Huffington Post, he chose the 16 most important places in the world to visit and put them at the choice of the public, including the pyramids of Giza, the Citadel of Machu Picchu, the red square in Moscow, the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador, United States Yellowstone National Park, the beach of Ipanema and the great Australian barrier.
Of these places, the public chose to Machu Picchu, which finally defeated the pyramids of Giza that took second place. Many considerations stated as a reason for choosing our Cuidadela Inca, including one of a user presented by the organizer of the contest: "Machu Picchu is without doubt the target that every human being should visit at least once in your life." "I do not know any place in the world that can compare with him."

This new nomination, joins his statement of Monumental heritage and one of the seven wonders of the world, his election and re-election as the best ecological destination in South America, as well as being awarded in different competitions and recommended among the best tourist destinations in the world to know.
It has also been awarded as one of ten buildings icons in the world, and up to a sweet inspired in Machu Picchu made with amaranth and quinoa was the star at the meeting of UNESCO, in France, during the commemoration of the centenary of the discovery of the inca Citadel.
These international awards for the historical and cultural heritage of Machu Picchu, impose us on Peruvians to redouble efforts to preserve this legacy, promoting its research and rationally use it to promote sustainable tourism.
